The Gruffalo’s Child – another day in child land
Yesterday I got to spend the whole day in the company of excited (mostly) under 6s, doing another children’s workshop. This time the theme was The Gruffalos Child.
Reasons I love the workshops:
I get to plan two hours of chaos with my friend Emma
I occasionally get to throw in different exciting activities – this time it was shadow play
I get to draw / design / create worksheets / instructions / colouring pages
I get to crawl about on the floor / use poster paint until my hands are multi coloured / show kids how cool getting messy is
I get to listen to kids talk about random stuff / tenuously related stuff / stuff
As you may know, the story is about the Gruffalos Child going to look for the Big Bad Mouse so we had footprint trails and printing footprints with paint using potatoes, cardboard and string. I made a Big Bad Mouse shadow puppet and stunned some tiny children with basic science. We had a cave and cave drawings, mouse ears and faces, colouring pages, wordgames and BISCUIT ICING!
The show is on in the middle of this month – the link for the theatre is below, so if you are in South East Essex and casting about for something to entertain your children, take a look.
Our next workshop is already on for October Half Term – What The Ladybird Heard.
