James and the Giant Peach – my (mostly) paper grasshopper

Astonishingly it’s been 12 days since my last post and yet despite having to find my way through work, sickness and school holidays I have actually been pretty busy making and doing.

Something I’d been looking forward to was our James and the Giant Peach workshop at the theatre. We had great fun with the story, making jars of wonderful and fabulous things as well as a small zoo’s collection of insects.

My personal design contribution to the collection is this rather handsome grasshopper.

I had great fun designing him, got blisters cutting out the components for the workshop participants, and a satisfied glow when 23 children went home with one each, perfectly made by themselves. 🙂
